Read this Facebook post. I am just so disappointed by what has happened here:
Such a bad manual from Chevrolet and such bad customer service from Avis Rent A Car!
Chevrolet - Have wrong information in the manual. Manual stated use diesel, even though the car uses unleaded gas.
Avis Rent A Car - Didn't inform us what fuel to put in the car. Didn't verify that manual information is correct. Charged us for the entire damage.
Rented a car at Avis Car Rental for 2 weeks of vacation in the US. We received a pretty new Chevrolet Cruze 2014.
On the 4th day of travel, we had to re-fuel. We checked the manual in the car and it said "Use Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) Only". We put ULSD in the car.
Driving in the highway, the car started chugging, slowing down and stalling.
We exited and saw the nearest Chevrolet dealer center, which directed us to Don K Service Center. After waiting for a few hours, Don K checked and verified that the car needed unleaded gas, and not diesel. They arranged with Avis for the car to be left at the service station. We were shuttled to Avis for a new car.
I discussed with Avis on what happened. We weren't informed what fuel to put so we just followed what the manual said, and therefore should not be paying for this issue.
A few days later, I received an email from PurCo (3rd party company) that Avis is claiming damages to the amount of $603.76.

As a customer, we are very disappointed on how Avis is handling this situation. The incident has caused so much stress and put our safety at risk. It is at the negligence of the car rental company for not advising their customers of the erroneous information in the manual which may potentially cause vehicular damage and accidents.
We are also very disappointed with Chevrolet for such misinformation in the manual. How can such misinformation be put in the manual, without any model exclusions listed. How did this manual pass for release.
